Jon Rogers

Monarch Geophysical Services Ltd

November 2009 - Present: Principal Geophysicist

Jon was promoted to Principal Geophysicist in January 2016 so as well as supervising the processing of 2D and 3D land and marine seismic projects he is also responsible for the technical excellence of the advice we give our clients.

Jon’s particular speciality is the supervision of Pre-Stack Depth Migration projects where he has considerable experience and has completed a number of complex Pre-SDM projects from the Southern and Central North Sea as well as one from onshore Libya. In 2011/12 Jon was managing the acquisition and subsequent processing of 2500km2 of 3D seismic data from the South Atlantic which was organisationally and geophysically challenging. More recently he has managed and been the geophysical expert for the planning and QC of the acquisition and processing of a number of 3D land surveys in the UK for the exploration of ‘unconventional oil and gas’ as well as the planning of a TZ survey in East Africa.

Jon, along with some colleagues, has developed Monarch’s survey planning software so that we can optimise survey design parameters. This software is appropriate for land and marine surveys.

He has extensive knowledge of the modern grid and hybrid model generation and updating techniques, He was involved in work on the latest depth imaging algorithms such as Beam and Reverse Time migrations.

As part of the project management he was involved in all aspects of data processing including all multiple attenuation techniques, multi-survey merging and 4D processing.
